Master’s Option

Through the Collaborative’s partnership with Fitchburg State University, the Collaborative for Educational Services licensure candidates can earn a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Teaching from FSU. Graduate credits earned through Collaborative Licensure Program courses may be used toward this Master’s Degree.  The Master’s DEgree option requires that students earn eighteen additional graduate credits (beyond the eighteen credits earned in the Collaborative’s Licensure Program) outlined in a Plan of Study, including a three-credit course designed to accompany the Practicum. The courses in the plan of study are specific to the area of licensure sought.

A typical Plan of Study for the M.Ed. includes:

  • 18 credits taken through the Collaborative for the license
  • 15 credits taken through the Collaborative in the location where the license is obtained
  • 3 credits taken online directly from FSU

Apply early. If you plan to apply for the Master’s program, you are strongly encouraged to submit your application as early as possible (no later than after taking one course at the Collaborative). To request FSU application materials for the Master’s Degree or CAGS, please download the Request for Fitchburg State University Application (1-pg PDF) and follow the directions on the form. The Request form may also be found on the Forms page.
